Teen Read Week is exciting

We have a special "Rubik's" program for students to view with Dakota Wickstrum.

He is truly a Whiz at the cube! He tests himself daily on different types of cubes. It's scientific, It's mathematical, it's fun!.

Tuesday we have a writing contest and a photo contest. Both with the theme "Dreams to Reality" which students in 6th grade and up can enter. Prizes are awarded. Staff will judge the entries and prizes will be awarded. Plus their entries will be put on our website and facebook page.

We have a photo booth where students can use props and books to have their picture taken then we will print out READ poster covers for our library. READ software will be used for this program.

We have story in a jar where students can guess the title and author of a story by the pieces of the story cut up in the jar.

We have guess the book cover where students can look at the no print cover and guess what the title and author is of the book.

Wednesday we have Chess and Checker competition in our teen area. Students can play as many chess or checker games as possible and tally their wins. They mentor other students who don't know how to play as well as enjoy the games themselves! Prizes awarded.

Prizes are small treats, cookies, lolli's, left over summer program prizes and of course paperback books.

Thursday we have a teen trivia game where students form teams and are asked questions on teen culture, music, celebrities etc. They are given a pass card, and call a friend card to help their team out if stumped. We will have prizes for the winning team!

Friday we have glow lights to hand out to teens to promote and emphasize our Black Light Show and Workshop for teens after hours at the library. We have a great 1 hour show and then teens can participate in behind the scenes techniques to produce a black light show.
