Teen Read Week is one of the highlights of the library year for me! My love for this special time began with "Make Reading a Hobbit". I believe this week provides a unique opportunity to reach out and engage teens to become involved in their local libraries. My favorite part of TRW is the reveal of the Teens' Top Ten. I enjoy promoting the selected titles throughout the summer and encouraging them to vote for their faves.
I love the Teens Top Ten too. I promote it as well at the library I work. I also love the great ideas all the teen/youth librarians share and do for the teen population!!!! Teens and teen librarians Rock!
Teen Read Week is always an exciting time. Students are back in school and familiar with routine. They have more time now to get involved with the library and special programs during Teen Read Week. The Teen Advisory Board can also take and active roll in planning and participating in this special week. Using the media in various technologies word gets out to students, schools, and organizations to invite students to the library to be active and build communication with other students participating and joining with friends at the library. it is an exciting and fulfilling time.
