Here are some of my students working on our blog for "Books to the Big Screen" program.
Here is a link to a video we made about choosing to be kind. It's related to one of the precepts in Wonder. Wonder was our One Book, One Community selection this year, so we did our discussion during Teen Read Week. We ended up getting a HUGE crowd. Most were younger than the usual teen crowd, but it was still so awesome! We premiered this video during the discussion.
The Onondaga Free Library had a wonderful turnout for the “Career Human Library” program hosted during Teen Read Week! Thanks to our partnership with two local school districts we had many new faces attend our event. In addition, we were able to round up 11 professionals from a variety of STEAM fields talk to teens. Everyone involved enjoyed the program and we hope to turn it into an annual event!
Also, thanks to the grant we were able to purchase a new Reader’s Advisory resource from YALSA and add new career and college-bound resources to our YA collection. We setup a display in our lobby and the RA pamphlets and titles were very popular among our teen (and adult) patrons!
Here is one more video we made! I'll share some photos with you later too!
Here are photos of a book discussion we had during Teen Read Week. The crowd was younger than usual because fifth graders were reading the book (Wonder) at school. It was a great time!
